When you use TRACKTHESTORM, we collect information you provide directly, such as your email address when you register or sign in. If you create a chaser profile, we also collect your display name, biography, vehicle description, and equipment details that you choose to share.

During active chase sessions, we collect GPS location data (latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, and heading) at regular intervals. This data is associated with your account and the specific session in which it was recorded.

We also collect usage data such as browser type, IP address, pages visited, and actions taken within the platform. This helps us understand how TRACKTHESTORM is used and improve our services.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the TRACKTHESTORM platform
• Authenticate your account and send magic sign-in links
• Display your GPS trails, weather reports, and session data on the live map
• Generate shareable session summaries and social cards when you choose to share
• Process subscription payments through our payment provider (Stripe)
• Send service-related emails such as login links and billing receipts
• Respond to support requests and inquiries
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse of our platform

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share your data only in the following circumstances:

• Public chase data: If your session is set to public, your GPS trail, weather reports, and chaser profile are visible to all TRACKTHESTORM users and the general public on the live map.
• Service providers: We share data with trusted vendors who help operate our platform, including cloud hosting (AWS), payment processing (Stripe), and email delivery. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or others.

4. Data Security

We take security seriously. Your data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in encrypted databases. Passwords (if set) are hashed using bcrypt. Magic link tokens are hashed before storage and expire after 15 minutes.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique email address for your account.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Export your GPS and session data
• Opt out of non-essential communications
